Flughafen Zürich AG: Change on Board of Directors at General Meeting of Shareholders 2023

Summary

As part of long-term succession planning, Andreas Schmid, Chairman of the Board of Directors, has decided not to stand for re-election at the 2023 General Meeting of Shareholders and to stand down from the Board of Directors of Flughafen Zürich AG at this time. His designated successor is Josef Felder, a long-standing member of the Board of Directors and former CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG. As of the 2022 General Meeting of Shareholders, Josef Felder will act as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Andreas Schmid

Andreas Schmid has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since Flughafen Zürich AG was established in 2000. During this time, the company has developed extremely successfully. The merger of the previous state-owned Airport Authority and Flughafen-Immobilien-Gesellschaft, which was already listed on the stock exchange at that time, created the foundations for a smoothly functioning business model that was further reinforced with the expansion of the commercial centers, growth in the real estate segment and the establishment of international business. Over the past 22 years, the company's value has increased greatly, and it has dealt with difficult crises such as the bankruptcy of the Swissair Group or the coronavirus pandemic under its own steam. Zurich Airport is considered a worldwide leader in terms of quality and image, and Flughafen Zürich AG is known for the high level of solidarity between the company and its employees. All the characteristic buildings that now shape Zurich Airport were built under the leadership of Andreas Schmid. These include the Airside Center, Docks E, B and D, Airport Shopping and the Circle, which opened in 2020.

The Board of Directors wishes to thank Andreas Schmid for his excellent work and outstanding commitment to Switzerland's gateway to the world. With his strategic foresight and entrepreneurial expertise, he significantly helped to shape Zurich Airport and has managed the company very prudently.

Josef Felder

Josef Felder is the designated successor

The Board of Directors is delighted to be able to propose Josef Felder as the designated successor at the General Meeting of Shareholders in April 2023. As a proven expert in aviation and airports, he will be able to ensure both a smooth transition and the continued positive development of the company.

Josef Felder was CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG from 2000 until the end of 2007. Prior to this he managed Flughafen-Immobilien-Gesellschaft and held management-level positions at the Swiss airline Crossair. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Flughafen Zürich AG since 2017 and will take over as Vice-Chairman as of the General Meeting of Shareholders in April 2022. He is also in charge of the Audit and Finance Committee. Josef Felder has been a full-time member of the Board of Directors since 2008. His other current directorships include AMAG Group AG, HTC Corporation and Schifffahrtsgesellschaft Vierwaldstättersee (SGV) AG.
