Change in the Management Board of Flughafen Zürich AG

Ad hoc announcement pursuant to Art. 53 LR

Summary

CEO Stephan Widrig has decided to take on a new challenge outside of Flughafen Zürich AG and will be leaving the company at the end of April 2023. Widrig worked for Flughafen Zürich AG for 23 years in various roles, including 15 years on the Management Board and eight years as CEO. The process to find his successor is now underway.

Stephan Widrig joined Flughafen Zürich AG in 1999. He was part of the team to privatise the airport and then progressed steadily within the organisation. His key functions included Head of Real Estate Management, development of the new airport in Bangalore, India, holding responsibility for the strategic development of the group as a member of the Management Board, and management of all non-aviation businesses, including the real estate business. As CEO since 2015, he has experienced strong periods of growth, successfully diversified the business model and smoothly guided the airport financially independent through the unprecedented crisis in aviation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

From May 2023, Stephan Widrig will be CEO of Allreal Holding AG, one of the largest listed real estate companies in Switzerland. He will therefore be leaving Flughafen Zürich AG at the end of April 2023. The Board of Directors has started the process to find his successor.

CEO Stephan Widrig on his resignation: “After almost 15 years on the Management Board of Flughafen Zürich AG and in my ninth year as CEO, I believe it makes sense for me to hand over the reins. It is the right time as all divisions are in stable, competent hands, we have come through the pandemic well and there is a clear strategic focus for the next few years. Zurich Airport is a unique location and Flughafen Zürich AG is a fantastic company that I will always have close ties to.”

Chairman of the Board of Directors Andreas Schmid: “On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Management Board, I would like to thank Stephan Widrig sincerely for his many years of considerable dedicated service to our company and Zurich Airport as an overall system. He made substantial contributions to shaping the company's successful performance over the past two decades, established new business areas as supporting pillars and also led Flughafen Zürich AG financially independent through the pandemic with a steady hand.”
