Key traffic figures March 2023
In March 2023, 2’081’649 passengers passed through Zurich Airport, corresponding to an increase of 58% compared to last year. Passenger levels are 86% of those reached in March 2019.
In March, the number of local passengers was 1’383’805. Transfer passengers amounted to 33%, equal to 692’688 passengers.
Year on year, air traffic movements increased by 27% to 18’558 take offs or landings. A monthly comparison shows that air traffic movements are at 84% of the 2019 level. The average passenger per movement figure increased to 132 (+13% vs. previous year). The average seat load factor was at 80% (+10 percentage points vs. previous year).
A total of 35’510 tons of freight were transported at Zurich Airport during the month of March. This led to a decrease of 14% in freight volume compared to last year. Compared to March 2019, freight volume decreased by 16%.
