Two new test locations opened at Zurich Airport

Summary
Due to the travel regulations currently in force and the need for more tests, the range of Covid-19 test facilities at Zurich Airport is being expanded. The new test centre is located in Terminal 1 and from Wednesday, 3 March 2021 will offer rapid antigen tests. In addition, there is now an airside test lounge.

The new, high-throughput test centre at Arrival 1 in Zurich Airport’s Terminal 1 is operated by Wotchout GmbH and will be open every day from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is currently offering rapid antigen tests for asymptomatic people. The tests cost CHF 80 and the result is available within about 15 minutes. Those tested receive a printout of the result on the spot as well as a text message and an e-mail in English. While not necessary, it is advisable to register in advance at www.virus-test.ch to ensure that the test is carried out quickly. The test is performed by taking a nasal (nasopharyngeal) swab. Card and cash payments are accepted (Swiss francs, euros and US dollars). Payment can also be made online in advance. In addition to test specialists, the test centre also employs several physicians. PCR tests at the new test centre at a later date are also planned. You can find further information on the new test facilities at: www.virus-test.ch. The test centre has a dedicated hotline for its services and this can be reached on 0800 003 211 every day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The new test centre in Terminal 1 supplements the existing Checkport/Ender Diagnostics test centre in Terminal 2, which since 1 March has been offering rapid antigen tests as well as PCR saliva tests. The former cost CHF 80 and the result is available within about 15 minutes. The range of tests on offer at the Airport Medical Center (PCR, IgG antibody tests and rapid antigen tests) also remains in place.

New airside test lounge
Since 25 February 2021, rapid antigen tests have been available to travellers and airport partners at Zurich Airport in the Marhaba Lounge on the third floor of the Airside Center, which is now in temporary use as a test location. The test lounge is operated by ground handler dnata in cooperation with test partner Viselio. The Lounge has been converted into the “Classroom” and the focus here is on a high passenger throughput within a very short time – following its completion, the aim is to be able to test the passengers on a full short-haul flight within the space of an hour while complying with all of the health authorities’ strict requirements for rapid antigen tests. Located on the airside, it provides a new and exciting resource that has been efficiently integrated into the specific airport and passenger processes without any additional loss of time. A rapid test here costs CHF 100, and the result is available in 15 minutes. The test lounge is open every day from 7.30 a.m. until 6 p.m. (and from as early as 5 a.m. on days with early-morning flights on KL1952). While not necessary, it is advisable to register in order to avoid wait times. Further information: www.viselio.com/zrh / +41 44 505 12 92.
