Ready to go –operational maintenance specialist

Operational maintenance specialists in the in-house services field are mainly active indoors, cleaning and maintaining building facilities at Flughafen Zürich AG. They monitor technical installations – heating, ventilation, air conditioning and sanitary facilities – and conduct maintenance, inspection and repair work in the field of operational building maintenance. They carry out repairs of all kinds independently, repair structural damage and ensure that waste is disposed of properly. They handle minor repairs themselves, calling in other specialists for more complicated cases. They do any necessary simple bricklaying, painting and carpentry. In their daily work, our operational maintenance specialists employ a wide range of modern equipment, machinery and vehicles such as pressure washers, lawnmowers, forklift trucks, etc.

Our in-house services operational maintenance specialists work primarily outdoors. Their main tasks are structural and operational maintenance throughout the airport site. They tend green areas, as well as the runways, paths and roads in and around the airport. This includes weed control, winter services and repairing damage to runways and other surfaces.

Basic training lasts three years. You spend one day a week at the technical college in Wetzikon (ZH). Practical work and classroom tuition are complemented by inter-company courses.

If your academic performance is good enough you can attend vocational college during your basic training.
