Conformance status
In compliance with Art. 10 para. 1 of the Swiss Disability Discrimination Decree (“Behindertengleichstellungsverordnung”) and the European Accessibility Act, Zurich Airport Ltd. adheres to the national and international accessibility standard WCAG 2.1 Level AA as a guideline.
This standard helps make websites usable for people with disabilities through three compliance levels (A, AA, and AAA). While many sections of our site already fulfill the required principles, some areas still need improvement to reach full AA compliance :
- Text alternatives for graphics: Graphic switches are not consistently labeled correctly, or some decorative graphics have disruptive text alternatives.
- Contrasts and color design: The color contrasts of individual elements on the website are not always sufficient and need to be further optimized.
- Semantic structure: Lists are not formatted as lists; headings are sometimes not formatted correctly.
- Keyboard operability: Visually visible jump links are missing, and certain control elements cannot be reached using the keyboard.
- Dynamic controls: JavaScript widgets (e.g. autocompletes, date pickers, carousels, etc.) are not consistently understandable using a screen reader.
- Embedded third-party content: Some integrated services, such as the interactive map, the chat, the webcam and the destination finder, currently show accessibility shortcomings and require further improvement.
