Why was the mobility offer revised?

Zurich Airport is recording new record highs in passenger numbers and traffic. As a result, the car park infrastructure is repeatedly operating at full capacity for long periods of time and reaching its limits. The adjustment of parking fees is intended to ensure that shift workers and staff with essential parking needs in particular have access to parking spaces – in addition to passengers and visitors.

What are the most important changes?

Simplification of the Offer: Only two parking products will be available going forward: Pay-per-Use (for occasional use) and the Long-Term Parking Card (for regular use).
Digital Solution: With Pay-per-Use, a flexible model replaces the previous value cards and rechargeable cards. The service is accessed via the new ZRH Mobility app.

Revised Parking Duration Limits:
- Flight crew: Maximum of 240 consecutive hours (unchanged)
- Shift workers and other employees: Maximum of 36 hours per parking session (previously 10 days)
- Exceptional cases: Currently being reviewed jointly with Flughafen Zürich AG to identify suitable solutions.

New Pricing Structure:

The costs for long-term parking products can be obtained from your employer. The costs for Pay-per-Use (PPU) are displayed directly in the app. If the maximum parking duration is exceeded, the following fees apply:

P3, P6: CHF 3.50 per hour
P16, P38, P65, P70: CHF 2.00 per hour
Motorcycle: CHF 1.00 per hour

How does the new «ZRH Mobility» app work?

The app is the central tool for booking and using the new Pay-per-Use offering. Employees can use it to digitally book, manage, and pay for parking sessions. The app also provides an overview of available parking spaces, remaining credit balances, and booking history.

Do these adjustments apply exclusively to newly issued parking permits, or do they also apply to existing products?

It will come into force on 1 May 2026 and also covers existing parking products.

Staff roles

Bei den Dauerparkkarten gibt es drei Kategorien – unter anderem «Schicht-Personal». Können Sie bitte erläutern, welche Mitarbeitenden genau darunterfallen?

The assignment of roles to the respective occupational groups is defined below:

Shift personnel: All persons who work shifts and generally work early, late or night shifts. They regularly enter the parking areas before 6:15 a.m. and/or leave after 10:45 p.m.

Flying personnel: All persons who, as crew members (cockpit, cabin and technical flying personnel), have to park their vehicles at the airport for longer periods due to work commitments.

Other personnel: All persons who are neither shift nor flying personnel are considered to be other personnel.

What applies to employees who cannot be clearly assigned to one of the three main categories?

Individual solutions will be considered for special cases. Details will be agreed upon together with the respective companies and HR departments.

Why do shift workers receive a lower rate than ‘other personnel’?

Due to high demand for parking spaces from passengers and employees, targeted management of parking capacity is necessary. The aim is to ensure accessibility to the airport for passengers and those employees who are dependent on cars due to off-peak hours.

For shift workers, the use of public transport is limited or impossible due to their working hours. For this reason, the rates for shift workers remain largely unchanged.

The rates for staff parking products have not been adjusted since 2018.

Mobility Budget

What is a mobility budget and how does it work?

Arbeitgeber können ihren Mitarbeitenden ein individuelles monatliches Wertguthaben (Mobilitätsbudget) als Subventionsbetrag für die Nutzung der «ZRH Mobility»-App zur Verfügung stellen. Die Zuweisung dieses Budgets kann auch auf Basis vom Arbeitgeber definierter Gruppen, beispielsweise Abteilungen, erfolgen. In einer ersten Phase kann das Guthaben für die Pay-Per-Use-Nutzung des Parkings eingesetzt werden, weitere Angebote wie ÖV- oder Dauerparkprodukte folgen. Die Abrechnung des verwendeten Mobilitätsguthabens für die Parkingnutzung erfolgt gesammelt durch die Flughafen Zürich AG direkt mit dem Arbeitgeber. Übersteigen die monatlich aufgelaufenen Parkkosten das Mobilitätsguthaben, erfolgt die Restzahlung per hinterlegtem Zahlungsmittel des Mitarbeitenden.

Operational

How can longer parking periods (e.g. for holidays or business trips) be booked?

For longer parking times than those specified for the respective product, the pre-booking system is available via the ‘ZRH Insider’ app. Employees can reserve parking spaces in advance and benefit from discounts of up to 30%, depending on the season.

How is it ensured that employees who work shifts can still find a parking space?

Employees who work outside regular public transport hours will still have access to parking spaces. They will continue to benefit from discounted rates, allowing them to plan their commutes flexibly and reliably.

A 10-day standby period is necessary for our business, as we frequently fly to our customers. What options are available?

The long-term parking products are considered parking permits for professional use at Zurich Airport. If you need to park for longer than the respective staff parking product allows, you can use the pre-booking system via the ‘ZRH Insider’ app. This allows you to book additional parking days in advance at discounted rates for tenants and employees. At the same time, advance booking supports the targeted management of limited parking capacity.

When the new concept comes into effect on 1 May 2026, an additional discount of up to 30% will be granted for these advance bookings.

Next steps

When will public transport services be available in the app?

From 2027 onwards, the app is to be expanded to include additional mobility services. Integration for purchasing public transport tickets is planned.

Will the long-term parking card product also be available in the app?

The ‘long-term parking card’ product will be digitised at a later date and integrated into the ZRH Mobility app. Until then, the current process using the application form will remain in place.
