Switzerland's only intercontinental aviation hub

Zurich Airport is one of the most important transport infrastructures in Switzerland. It connects the country to major cities around the world, thus fulfilling a key economic function and a political mandate.

The following figures are taken from the study on the economic importance of civil aviation in Switzerland’ for the year 2024 by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation and Zurich Airport Ltd’s Annual Report.

Added Value: CHF 8 billion per year

In 2024, Swiss civil aviation will generated direct added value of CHF 9.8 billion and 49,000 jobs (full-time equivalents). Zurich Airport generates around the same amount of value as that of a medium-sized Swiss town. Direct and indirect added value amounts to around CHF 8 billion.
