Redesign of Airport Shopping
With the refurbishment of the northern part of Airport Shopping, bottlenecks will be eliminated and additional attractive retail and dining areas created. Due to the construction work, some shops are located at new sites or are currently unavailable.
Routes within Airport Shopping also differ in some areas, for example to Check-in 1, the gates or the parking facilities. All routes are signposted using the airport’s familiar wayfinding system.

New CT scanners in the security screening building
Since 2025, the security screening building has been equipped with new CT technology. The refurbishment of the security screening facilities is being carried out in stages and by floor until summer 2026. Due to the conversion work and the resulting reduced capacity, longer waiting times may occur at certain times. Passengers are asked to observe the recommended arrival time for their flight.Modernisation of the Skymetro
For over 20 years, the Skymetro has been the backbone of the connection between the Airside Center and Dock E. To ensure that it continues to operate reliably and safely, and with greater capacity in the future, it is undergoing a comprehensive technical upgrade through to 2027. The system will be converted to a four-car train. For each construction phase, one of the two tunnels will be closed. The first construction phase will last until approximately mid-June 2026.
The second construction phase is planned to start in mid-October 2026 and will last until approximately the end of April 2027.
One of the two Skymetros will always remain in operation. During periods of high passenger volumes, bus services will be used to relieve pressure. Changes to routes and temporarily longer waiting times may occur.
Zurich Airport Ltd apologises for the inconvenience and thanks passengers, visitors and employees for their understanding.
