Restrictions on train services from 6 to 23 February 2026
Due to SBB maintenance work on the tracks between Zurich Oerlikon and Zurich Airport, train services will be restricted from Friday night, 6 February 2026, until Monday morning, 23 February 2026. This work will affect rail services to and from Zurich Airport.
The lines affected are:
- On long-distance services, EC trains to and from Munich, IC5, IC8/81 and IR/RE75 will be diverted in both directions and will not stop at Zurich Airport.
- The IR36 will be cancelled between Zurich Oerlikon and Zurich Airport in both directions.
- The IR16 2155 is cancelled from Zurich main station to Zurich Airport.
- Additionally from Friday, 6 February 2026, 23.40 to Monday, 9 February 2026, 05.20: The S24 trains between Zurich Oerlikon and Zurich Airport are cancelled in both directions.
Travellers and visitors are asked to use alternative connections and to plan their journey carefully.

With its excellent connections to the public transport network, Zurich Airport is the ideal place to start and end a journey. Local public transport services will take you to the surrounding regional centres quickly and reliably: SBB trains depart for Zurich’s main station every 10 minutes, and the journey takes 15 minutes. Public transport provides a direct link between the airport and the rest of Switzerland and ensures an easy onward journey with regular connections within Switzerland and to its neighbouring countries. Every weekend, a new early-morning train now runs from Bern via Olten, Zurich Main Station, and Zurich Oerlikon to Zurich Airport.

These early morning connections allow passengers from these towns and cities to leave their cars at home and comfortably catch the first flights of the day (between 6am and 8am) from Zurich Airport.
