Summer timetable 2024: Further transatlantic connections and new destinations in Europe

Summary

A total of 200 destinations will be served by 62 airlines from Zurich Airport in the 2024 summer timetable. This is slightly more than in last year's summer timetable. SWISS and Edelweiss are adding new routes to Eastern and Northern Europe.

Compared to last summer, the number of directly served destinations increases to 200. That's nine more destinations than in summer 2023.

Other connections to Seoul and overseas

SWISS is introducing a new addition to its summer flight schedule: from 7 May, the home carrier will be connecting Zurich with the South Korean capital Seoul three times a week. In the summer timetable, it will thus complement the route that is already served seasonally by Korean Air.

SWISS is also expanding its connections to North America, with flights to Washington from 28 March and Toronto from 10 May. While Toronto is served five times a week in the summer, Washington is served daily in the summer and also five times a week in the winter.

Delta Air Lines is also resuming its service to Atlanta. Edelweiss, for its part, will now fly daily to Vancouver over the summer months and will also serve Calgary, Tampa and Denver routes even more frequently than before.

Tunisair returns

Tunisair's return to Zurich after a three-year hiatus underscores the continued demand for holiday destinations. Tunisair connects Zurich twice a week with Tunis and once a week with Djerba.
For its part, Edelweiss is expanding its frequency to Muscat and Phuket and extending its seasonal connection to Bogotà and Cartagena in Colombia from winter to summer.

China continues to recover

Although the number of connections to China is still below pre-pandemic levels, there has been a noticeable recovery. From the summer timetable, SWISS will also resume daily flights to Shanghai, bringing the Shanghai and Hong Kong routes back to pre-crisis levels. Cathay Pacific is increasing the frequency on the Hong Kong-Zurich route to four flights per week.

The Mediterranean and Northern Europe remain popular

Spain remains popular, which is why Edelweiss will operate the connections to the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands and the Spanish mainland with higher frequencies in the summer flight schedule. SWISS will also be flying to Alicante and Madrid more frequently during the summer timetable. From the end of March, Alicante will also be served by easyJet with up to two weekly connections.
Greece continues to be popular: Edelweiss flies to Heraklion on Crete up to 17 times a week. That's five more frequencies than before. There are also more connections to the destinations of Chania, Corfu and Zakynthos. There are now daily flights to Kos and Rhodes. In addition, Aegean Airlines is expanding its service to Athens to up to 11 weekly connections.

The service to Northern Europe will also be expanded. Scandinavian Airlines flies up to Oslo up to three times a day in the summer, and Edelweiss flies for the first time with a weekly scheduled flight to the Norwegian Lofoten Islands, to Evenes, increasing its frequency to Tromsø from two to three flights per week. Edelweiss is also expanding its offerings to Edinburgh, Scotland, Newquay, Cornwall, and Keflavik, Iceland.

SWISS operates seven weekly flights to London Gatwick, London's third airport. Eurowings, for its part, is launching the Berlin-Zurich route with up to eleven flights per week, while easyJet is increasing its offer to Berlin to up to eight weekly flights. The Italian airline ITA Airways is increasing the frequency on the Rome-Zurich route to two daily flights.

New connections to Eastern Europe

For the first time, SWISS is adding Košice in Slovakia to its range of destinations in its summer timetable, connecting Zurich with three flights a week throughout the year. Cluj-Napoca in Romania will also be served by SWISS for the first time – also three times a week and all year round.
