Zurich Airport: traveling and celebrating over the Easter holidays

Summary

Easter is one of the peak travel periods at Zurich Airport. This makes it even more important for passengers to prepare well for their journey. Zurich Airport is also a popular destination for those staying at home and, with a bit of luck, you might even get to see the Easter Bunny.

Zurich Airport expects an average of around 90,000 passengers per day over the Easter holidays. Compared to Easter before coronavirus in 2019, this figure is slightly lower.

The right travel preparations

To start the journey as relaxed as possible, passengers are advised to prepare well before arriving at the airport. This includes the following:

  • Online check-in or - if possible – use Early check-in options
Information on the check-in options for different Airlines
  • Drop off your baggage at the Self Bag Drop machines: These are available to Lufthansa, SWISS, Edelweiss, Austrian and Brussels, Chair and Air Baltic passengers.

  • Bring little hand luggage and check beforehand what is allowed in your luggage: special restrictions apply to batteries, liquids, lighters, e-cigarettes and power banks, for example. A practical search function can be found online:

  • Label each piece of luggage with contact details
  • Display the recommended check-in time at Zurich Airport: Use the "Find flight" function on the airport website to call up your own flight, and then enter whether you have already checked in and/or whether you are traveling with hand luggage only. The recommended check-in time at Zurich Airport is then displayed as supporting information. Especially guests traveling outside the Schengen area are asked to arrive at the airport early, as they will also have to go through passport control after the security check. This could take additional time over the Easter period due to the high volume of passengers.

Those who wish to have access to the priority line at the security checkpoint in addition to a separate lounge area in the Airside Center, including a premium snack and drink, can book "ZRH Comfort", a service offered at Zurich Airport since last autumn. New routes for passengers
Following extensive work on the baggage carousels, Check-in 1 will be open again for passengers of all travel classes of SWISS and other airlines. Passengers are asked to note the correct check-in location on their ticket or at the airport. The northern part of Airport Shopping is being redesigned. Due to the comprehensive refurbishment, there will be new routes to and from Check-in 1 as well as from Arrival 1. The detour is signalized.

Easter program for those staying at home
