Switzerland's only intercontinental aviation hub

Zurich Airport is one of the most important transport infrastructures in Switzerland. It connects the country to major cities around the world, thus fulfilling a key economic function and a political mandate.

The following figures are taken from the study on the economic importance of Zurich Airport and Flughafen Zürich AG’s Annual Report .

Added Value: CHF 7 billion per year

Zurich Airport generates around the same amount of value as that of a medium-sized Swiss town. The CHF 7 billion correspond to 4.4% of the GDP of the Canton of Zurich. The spending of income induces additional value creation of CHF 8.4 billion. The figures refer to a scenario adjusted to the Covid-19 effect.
