The organisation –of Flughafen Zürich AG

All the tasks required for ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality flight operations are grouped together here. These include all passenger services in the departure, arrival and transfer areas, the coordination of stand allocation and the guidance of aircraft on the aprons as well as safety and security. Airport Steering – the central steering committee – ensures that operations run smoothly. The division is responsible for all freight-related activities and, together with Aviation Development & Statistics, constitutes the interface to customers and airlines. It also ensures the development of aviation infrastructures and procedures. Master planning and the Regulatory Affairs & Noise department are also part of the Aviation division. 

The Commercial division is responsible for supporting the retail centers, and for landside traffic and marketing. The division organises attractive shopping, catering and services in both the airside and landside areas and operates the second-largest shopping center in Switzerland in terms of sales. Other tasks include overall responsibility for parking and mobility services and landside development, as well as overarching marketing and branding for the airport.

The Real Estate division is responsible for the development and construction and for the commercial, technical and infrastructure-related management of all buildings and related facilities at Zurich Airport. Its portfolio ranges from the terminal buildings, office centers, logistics and hangar buildings to the new major project, the Circle. Other tasks include managing the technical systems necessary for flight operations and buildings.

The Finance division carries out business administration tasks and cross-divisional functions. The Controlling department ensures financial transparency and establishes the basis for the financial management of the company, while the Financial Services department is responsible for reporting, liquidity management and the financing of the Group. High-quality financial communication is ensured by Investor Relations. Also part of Finance & Services is Supply Management, which is responsible for central procurement and purchasing processes. In addition, the Sustainability & Environment department is responsible for the sustainable orientation of the company and environmental issues. The Information & Communication Technology (ICT) is responsible for the planning, creation, further development and operation of modern IT solutions for information and data processing for Flughafen Zürich AG and our airport partners.

The International division deals with the development of international business and supervision of the airports and subsidiaries of Flughafen Zürich AG abroad. This includes the analysis of airport concessions, privatisation of airports and direct acquisition possibilities, as well as the development and management of airport privatisation projects. It also involves advising and supporting strategic investors in the development and operation of airports, and support and knowledge transfer to our airports and subsidiaries abroad.

The strategic staff functions of the company are bundled in the People & Communications unit. Human Resources and Personnel and Organizational Development are responsible for modern personnel management and the further development of the corporate and management culture. Corporate Communications is responsible for internal and external communications, and Public Affairs for maintaining relations with the political community. The airport as a destination also falls within this area.
