The combined guided tour of the airport and bus tour offers a complete package for airport enthusiasts. The two-and-a-half-hour tour presents Zurich Airport to visitors in all its variety. The group will be accompanied by an experienced guide throughout.
The tour starts at Arrival 2 in the main airport complex. First, the guide will accompany the group through the terminals, providing a wealth of interesting information on the proceedings at Zurich Airport. The visitors will then be accompanied through the security check building into the Airside Center. The building, which opened in 2005, is the passenger hub and heart of the airport. The impressive architecture was designed to resemble a wing, and the visitors can enjoy excellent views of the apron. At basement level is the Skymetro station, which the group will take to Dock E – the location of Observation Deck E. The deck offers binoculars and a fantastic view of the main airport complex and runways. There, the guide will take the opportunity to explain the runway system at Zurich Airport.
At Dock E, the group will be collected by a tour bus for a one-hour bus tour with live commentary. From Dock E, the bus driver will head past REGA (Swiss Air-Rescue) and the General Aviation Center where business and private aircraft are parked. Next, the visitors can observe freight operations before being driven beneath Docks A and B to the hangar and the vaulted hangar. On the way, the bus will pass the building of Gate Gourmet, the largest catering firm at Zurich Airport. In the hangars, the company SR Technics carries out maintenance work on aircraft from various airlines. The bus tour then continues to the fire service and through the Winter Services hall which houses the enormous snow-clearing vehicles. To finish, the driver will head to the intersection of runways 10/28 and 16/34. The visitors can disembark at this unique spot and watch planes taking off and landing from right up close. The bus will then return to Observation Deck B. The tour ends there and the group will have the chance to spend some time on the observation deck if they wish.
The visitors will have the chance to ask questions whenever they wish, which the guide will be able to answer expertly thanks to years of professional experience.
